AI Training Course for Instructors

Overview

This project aims to train language instructors to develop skills to utilize ChatGPT to enhance their grammar instruction. This course is designed with the Understanding by Design model, an instructional planning approach focusing on a backward design framework.

Design Process

Empathy Mapping
 

Based on the interviews with target learners, I visualized the target learner persona through an empathy mapping process, followed by a needs assessment of instruction. The performance problem of learners was evident, which led me to initiate designing the instruction.

Goal Analysis
 

Based on the needs assessment, I generated an instructional goal and analyzed the information and skills necessary to be instructed to achieve the goal. Then, I decided on the acceptable evidence for achieving the instructional goal.

Course Map &
Material Development

I designed a course map with performance objectives, assessments, instructional strategies, and a storyboard for each unit. Then, I developed various types of instructional materials such as written texts, videos, interactive quizzes, etc adhering to the accessibility guidelines.

Video Material with Transcripts

Great attention to accessibility with the inclusion of transcripts and closed captions. The sequence of instructional activities, strategy and content you curated was well done, your assessments activities are well aligned to the content and overall goal of each lesson or unit. You provide sufficient guidance and scaffolding with the use of examples and non-examples as well as templates, lecture and demonstration videos. This will create a great learning experience for your participants/learners.
